What defines Madrid?
In Madrid, just as it makes no difference where you’re originally from, we can proudly state that what really matters are the people, ideas and projects that pass through the city. It may not have the world’s best skyline, paella or beach, but its other attributes make it possible to say without hesitation that “life is good” in Madrid. The city’s quality of life is among the best in the world in comparison to leading cities like London, Milan, Paris, Rome and New York.
But why is life good in Madrid?
“Life is good” in Madrid because there’s a sense of emotional well-being and it provides intellectual stimulus: two prerequisites for bringing a personal or professional project to fruition. Time is another great facilitator.
Time was one of the concepts that kept coming up when the city’s brand narrative was being developed.
Time was something that was in short supply during the health crisis [Covid-19 pandemic], as many people got busy pursuing personal or professional projects that they had put off in the past but which became highly important during that period. Emotional well-being, intellectual stimulus and time thus became the three key “ingredients” that underpinned the process of creating the city brand narrative.
With more time, Madrid’s residents approach the infinite, metaphorically speaking. People who live in or visit Madrid know that the city is endless; there’s always something to do, learn or share together. Time is limitless in Madrid, and as such it’s the ideal place to launch a personal or professional project. It’s this figurative “endlessness” that’s at the heart of the emotional well-being and intellectual stimulus it provides.
Finally, based on the concepts of time, emotional well-being and intellectual stimulus that were to be conveyed to Madrid’s audiences, the Brand Idea was created: “The City of Your Time”
