On the first week of October 2022, the Spanish Ministry of Defense sent a new land convoy of eight light vehicles, two ambulances and five tons of diverse medical material to Ukraine which were provided by the Army, the Navy, and the Military Emergency Unit (UME). The shipment will serve the logistical and health needs of Ukraine, considered by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense as the highest priority. Further shipments are scheduled in the next few days.

REPowerEU sets out measures on diversification of energy suppliers, energy savings and energy efficiency, and an accelerated roll-out of renewable energy. And the EU is succeeding in the attempt, too, after the Nord Stream II debacle which has sent German fuel supply, and by extension the EU's as well, into a tailspin.

The Spanish song entry "La, La, La" took top honors in the 13th edition of the continent-wide Eurovision Song Contest held in London last week. Twenty-year-old pop singer Massiel belted it out with enough energy to squeak through with a one-point victory over the English song "Congratulations" sung by Cliff Richards. It was Spain's first Eurovision triumph. When the results were announced, Massiel lit up like a Christmas tree in her sparkling mini-skirt outfit and launched into a real knock-out version of the tune.
