There occurred in 1217 a dramatic event of a great love story in the Aragonese city of Teruel involving young lovers Isabel Segura and Diego Garces de Marcilla. She was rich. His family lost its fortune. Her father married her off to a rich and prominent man before Diego could lay his new-found wealth at her feet. Diego and Isabel died of broken hearts. Today Teruel holds an annual "Fiesta de Interes Turistico Nacional" to honor the ill-starred lovers.
