The fear of crowded public transport plus the harsh economic condition, both brought about by the COVID, have caused the sale of cars older than 20 years to spike. The rather strange phenomenon is happening side by side with the accelerated demand for bicycles and other means of mobility as alternatives to mass transit which is perceived as a superspreader of the virus.
On Sunday, 11 October 2020, the World’s Number 2 ATP player demolished Serbian Novak Djokovic, the World’s Number 1, in three straight sets at the Roland Garros final. “Restrictions”: it is the regional government of Madrid’s euphemism for partial lockdown, or “selective confinement” as the Deputy Counselor of Health and the COVID Plan had blurted out. Demonstrations in various parts of the region are being held, protesting against what they see as drawing a dividing line between the north and south -- rich and poor -- of Madrid. But this is no ordinary year. It is one of the five times when Pamplona’s festival of running the bulls has been cancelled in its long history.
Earlier this month France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands joined forces to form the Inclusive Vaccine Alliance, in order to have a stronger negotiating position in the race for a coronavirus vaccine. All EU member states will have the opportunity to sign up to the deal, under the same conditions as the
alliance members. But something might go wrong at the last minute and production might just end up where all pipe dreams go — down the drain!
