There’s a reason Tommy Hlfiger is celebrating: Rafa Nadal has signed on as ambassador of Tommy Hilfiger Underwear, Tailored and Fragrance. How best to celebrate? Playing tennis, of course! So Tommy Hilfiger, one of the world’s most recognized premium designer lifestyle groups, organized a pop-up tournament at the Breuninger flagship store in Stuttgart, Germany last 10 November. Nadal faced off with German models Janis Danner, Sara Nuru and Stefanie Giesinger in several racy rounds of tennis where Nuru and Geisinger wore cute outfits from the Spring 2016 Hilfiger Collection while Danner and Nadal donned Tommy Hilfiger Tailored suits.

Each time a team scored a point, their opponents removed a piece of clothing until finally the new Tommy Hilfiger men’s and women’s underwear is exposed.

Nadal played two rapid-fire rounds on a spectacular “floating” tennis court specially installed on the first floor of the luxury department store.

Nadal, “The King of Clay,” is widely regarded as one of the finest clay-court players in history if not the greatest clay-court player of all time. But Nadal didn’t get stuck there; the 29-year old 14-time Grand Slam winner from Mallorca, Spain has grown into an iconic all-court giant and is one of the only two male players in history who has won at least two Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces — grass, hard court, clay — the other being Mats Wilander.

Nadal is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time for several good reasons. He is the only male player to win a single Grand Slam tournament nine times and the first to win at least one Grand Slam tournament for ten consecutive years, breaking the eight-consecutive-year record held by Björn Borg, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer. He is also the only male player in tennis history to win one Grand Slam and Masters 1000 title for ten consecutive years (2005–2014).

As Tommy Hilfiger global brand Underwear, Tailored and Fragrance “ambassador” he is featured in the company’s Fall 2015 campaigns launched with a pop-up tennis tournament at the Bryant Park in the heart of New York last August. So the Stuttgart was actually the second pop-up contest.

The Stuttgart pop-up tennis tournament was live-streamed on Tommy Hilfiger’s Periscope account announced to the brand’s global fan base through its Twitter feed a few hours before the match began.
