STATESIDE STORIES: Walz and Vance vie for US Vice-Presidency

US Vice-President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate in her campaign for President of the United States on election day November 5th.

Walz is considered an ultra-left liberal by the Republicans who vetted J.D. Vance, Senator from Ohio, to be Donald Trump’s Vice-President in his campaign for a second term as President.
Walz served 24 years in the National Guard and was a high school teacher and coach.
J.D. Vance wrote “Hillbilly Elegy”, a best-selling memoir of his upbringing in a working-class family. He is a veteran, a venture capitalist and a Yale lawyer.
Vance believes in deregulation, tax cuts and promoting free market policies.

Walz focuses on balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability and humane border policies.
Vance advocates for stricter border policies and reducing illegal immigration.
J.D. Vance, as a younger politician, could attract younger voters.
Tim Walz and J.D. Vance bring different strengths and challenges to their respective campaigns.
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris plan to debate on September 10th after the Democrat National Convention on the 19th of August. Negotiations on in the works for more debates before election day.
