A GUIDEPOST story

Here’s the jackpot number of Spain’s Sorteo Extraordinario de Navidad, Lotería de Navidad (Christmas Lottery) for short:

86098

The draw is on Sunday, 22 December 2019. So if you hurry – really hurry – and grab a few decimos (tickets) bearing that number, you can still be a millionaire!

But how come the jackpot number is known already when the draw is still days away? Simple: Seer Elsa Altagracia had an “intuition”. She said: “Mis intuiciones están con el número 86.098.” Meaning, “My intuitions are with the number 86098.”

You buying that? Well, some are! You see this pythoness, who is from the Dominican Republic but lives in Xinzo de Limia, a town in the northwestern Spanish province of Ourense, went and bought two decimos of a ticket that ultimately won the second prize of the Lotería de Navidad in 2017. Who tipped her off about the right lottery number? “The difunto (the dead),” she asserted.

The news of the paranormal caper spread beyond Ourense when the local newspaper La Region ran the story.

It is being bandied about that she has also won several smaller prizes with decimos she has bought in different provinces of Spain.

The shares of number 86098 that have been placed by the state-owned Lotería Nacional on the Internet are sold out. But some may still be available from a few lottery stands around the country. Click here.

In terms of the total prize payout, the Lotería de Navidad is considered the world’s biggest lottery draw. In 2017, the payout totaled €2.31 billion. This year the total payout is €2,380,000,000. The First Prize (better known as El Gordo) is €4 million. Second Prize is €1,250,000. Third prize is half a million euros.

Want to try your luck? There’s very little time left but you could still go out and buy your decimo! Keep your fingers crossed, though, and pray the tip from the grave works!
