The letter below, though addressed to ACM members only, serves to also let the general
public know about the exciting April-May events at Conde Duque

Dear American Club Members,
The Spanish Fulbright Alumni Association has cordially invited the members of the American Club of Madrid and our guests to take part in an exciting multimedia, interactive project opening next week at Madrid’s Conde Duque Cultural Center. It will be capped with a more than 800 voice choral performance in which everyone is welcome to participate. Follow the links below to see what this is about.
The project is the brainchild of Fulbright Fellow, Sonia Megías. From 2010-2012 she earned an M.A. in Musical Composition at New York University. She is currently a resident composer at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and directs the project ne nwawat shuchikisa to recover the indigenous Nahuatl musical culture en El Salvador.
Sonia is a multifaceted artist who not only composes and performs but also creates interactive, multi media installations based on the scores of her musical compositions which she has shown in six venues in New York and in Spain.
On Friday, April 12 she inaugurates her exhibition titled “Se mira, pero sí se toca” at the Conde Duque. This is a unique interactive exhibition involving senses of sight, touch, smell and even taste.
On that day she will begin with a guided tour of the installation at 7:30. At 8:30 there will be the official inauguration of the exhibition in which a documentary will be shown to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bertstein’s birth followed by a performance of some of his music by pianist Diego Fernandez Magdaleno. Here is the link for the program:

If you can’t make it on Friday you will have other opportunities on Saturday April 13 at 10 am. Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30 pm, and Monday, April 22 at 6 pm.
After the guided tour on Wednesday, April 17, there will be a concert of contemporary music by the Garaiz Ensemble: https://www.condeduquemadrid.
If you would like to attend any of the guided tours please write Sonia at contacto@soniamegias.es
And last of all, but by no means least, you are invited to join or attend the performance of a chorus of more than 800 voices in the Conde Duque Courtyard on May 4. Several choral groups will be participating but individuals are encouraged to join in. There will be three rehearsal-workshops beforehand. Here is the sign up information for this unique event:
