Tourism Councilor Maria Aranguren of Alcala de Henares has announced at FITUR (International Tourism Fair, Madrid, 19 – 23 January 2022) that the local government will raffle off 100 free hotel double-room accommodations to promote tourism in this city where Miguel de Cervantes of the Don Quixote fame was born.
Alcala de Henares, which is part of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, is a hauntingly beautiful city with a palpable medieval ambiance. It’s only 30 minutes away from the Spanish capital by direct railway line but its historic old quarter is a different world altogether. Alcala de Henares is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The raffle will take place this coming February. Keep checking out the announcement of when exactly it will be held. Aranguren has said that the raffle will be announced on Alcala’s tourism social media (redes sociales de turismo). But if you’re really really interested, keep consulting Alcala’s Ayuntamiento website as well, just to be sure.
Winners will enjoy their free hotel accommodation in April. They will thus be able to join the Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations, declared Fiesta de Interes Turistico Nacional (Tourist Festival of National Interest), and other exciting events.
Participating hotels for the raffle are the Parador del Turismo, the Hotel Isla de la Ganera, the Hotel Rafael, Hotel Cisneros, Hotel Campanile, and Hotel Don Juan.
