A Guidepost (True) Story
Videos & stills supplied by Manuel Diaz
Looking for Christmassy excitement up in the clouds? You’re in the right place if you’re in Pozuelo de Alarcon, northeast of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. Because that’s where Madrid’s tallest Ferris wheel goes round and round this Season. At the Pozuelo Joy Christmas to be precise.
The Ferris wheel is 46 meters high and has a capacity for 156 passengers, with two special cabins for those with limited mobility. On descent, it whirls at the heart-stopping speed of 126 km/h.
Of course, the Ferris wheel in Pozuelo is an unmitigated midget when compared to the London Eye which at 135 m. high is one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the world and the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel.
But you probably can’t be that tall and still be an itinerant Ferris wheel. And Pozuelo’s is; it travels to different towns. Besides, it really can’t be bad if, from its height, it brings forth a memorable view of Madrid for miles around for the rider to enjoy.
The Pozuelo Joy Christmas offers other exciting experiences that one would expect from a feria navideña for all ages: skating rink, circus, other fair rides. . .
