Life with my husband was an exciting time. We traveled by car, many times across the states and into Canada. We worked, and enjoyed life. Then one day, unexpectedly, my husband of almost 36 years died – and I was lost.Thank goodness for my brother John who guided me back to the land of the living. I booked a tour of a country I wanted to see: Spain, a place where I did not speak the language. I loved exploring all of the country and when I left that first time, I knew I would return, and I did.

Spain isn't just the planet's HEALTHIEST country, according to Bloomberg's Global Health Index. Spaniards are projected to live longest too! How about that! Balmy climate, tons of sunshine, great music, and delectable Mediterranean diet (gazpacho anyone?), not to mention the knack for living it up. They have it all, these fortunate people. Salud!

I don't know who first coined the phrase "La Movida Madrilena" but I know from my own experience that it was a real phenomenon in the city of Madrid. If the young are allowed to have their own voice, they will create new cultural phenomenons continuously.

Although it is illegal to possess or sell marijuana in a public area, club owners can obtain licenses to operate private associations to smoke and sell weed. But operating within this space creates a multitude of problems for club owners looking to advance their business. Be that as it may, private weed clubs in Madrid are on the rise. Per some estimates, Madrid will surpass Barcelona, where there are currently over 300 private clubs, as the weed capital of Spain by 2020.

Chances are that Spanish children would have both The Magi and Santa!  Think about it, two bountiful bearers of gifts instead of just one, from the East and from the West, and the Royals coming right on the jovial heels of Ho Ho Ho!

In 1909 the Spanish winegrowers had such a bountiful harvest there was an excess of supply over demand. They had to think of a way to dispose of the surplus. They told the people eating a grape with each stroke of the clock toward the magic hour will bring prosperity throughout the new year. If, on the other hand, you don't join the ritual, you're cursed.That sent people scrambling to buy the grapes!
