In the States, we just might have to do without avocados and bananas until the powers-that-be settle the argument. Guacamole, anyone?

Life with my husband was an exciting time. We traveled by car, many times across the states and into Canada. We worked, and enjoyed life. Then one day, unexpectedly, my husband of almost 36 years died – and I was lost.Thank goodness for my brother John who guided me back to the land of the living. I booked a tour of a country I wanted to see: Spain, a place where I did not speak the language. I loved exploring all of the country and when I left that first time, I knew I would return, and I did.

My daughter Teresa who is nearly nine has suffered from severe cerebral palsy since birth. In 1986 I saw three or four programmes on television about the Peto Institute in Budapest. And there we went at the end of June. Although Teresa is only supposed to be affected physically, the first assessment classed her as ‘severely mentally handicapped’. I have no guarantee that the Peto method is the best the world can offer but studying their theories it seems to be a fairly logical type of treatment for a child like mine. But perhaps Teresa’s saving grace is her great sense of humour and her large brown eyes that try to make up for her difficulty in communicating. Her brother and sister spend some time fighting together but they also look after Teresa wonderfully, in an extremely unselfish way, and they try to make sure I do the same – they certainly let me know if I don’t.

Spring cleaning, a project that seems never-ending. However, since winter has yet to quite end, and you have to spend time indoors anyway, it seems to be a good time to take advantage of it and putter around the house. While Spring is just around the corner, and flakes of snow fall in March, the rhythm of the passing traffic can still be heard and seen out the windows, which need attention too! But I can see the buds on the Rhododendrons right out front, and my tire tred in the muddy grass alongside the driveway where I missed backing up the car! OH, THE GARDENING THAT AWAITS!

"On May 21, 1971, an entirely benign evening in my life, I slept with a beautiful woman not knowing that the intense connection we made would inextricably link our lives and very souls for decades to come.  I´m not one to believe in the psychobabble that people sometimes spout, but I´m willing to swear that this one sexual encounter, unlike any other I´d experienced, caused our spirits to collide, our molecular structures to merge and the core of our joint DNA to morph into a single cell." Later, the "black pearls" will come into the saga
