The clubhouse of the American Women’s Club was full to overbrimming when the Club held its first charity Wine Tasting. The event featured the charismatic Ceasar Rodenas Varona, wine importer extraordinaire who introduced guests to the great Pinotage – award-winning red wine from the Moreson Winery in South Africa. To compliment this special occasion and further satisfy the taste buds, Nina Valdes (who claims this is her favorite red wine) wowed some 50 guests with servings of shredded crab appetizers, Foie Gras with Mango salad, Yellow Curry Chicken with rice, and Walnut Cranberry Salad.
After much tasting of the Pinotage, and samplings from Ceasar’s impressive private imported stock, guests kicked up their heels and danced to some good old rock n roll music. The songstress with the great voice, Paula Lerdo De Tajada, favored everyone with some Donna Summer favorites.
Cesar, a long-time advocate of the AWC, raffled a bottle of excellent champagne while all proceeds were donated to the Club’s charities. Cesar has promised to sponsor this charity event twice a year, honoring the good works of Madrid’s American Women’s Club.
