I’ll be giving the Pendleton Round-up Rodeo and Wild West Parade a miss this year. Leaving the dry hills of
Pendleton behind, I’ll be heading for Portland to have fun with all the family I have left for the first
time in a long time. So if you don’t hear from me for a couple of weeks you’ll know why.

In this little town, the biggest news in September is the Pendleton Round-up Rodeo and Wild West Parade, both of which I’ll miss this year.
I’ll be heading for Portland, Oregon for my brother’s 70th birthday celebration.
We will be going to the 100th anniversary picnic for the St. Rita’s Parish where we all attended school, renewing old friendships and bringing food and drink.
Then we will be driving to the Coast and Seaside where we will stay overnight and walk on the beach. After that, we will drive north to Warrenton where my brother has a date with a Zipline Adventure company which is the present he wanted for his birthday on the 14th.
My sister is flying in from Spain especially for our birthdays, with mine on the 6th, and to see her dear friend Sally who recently lost her husband to cancer.
We’re going to play it by ear most of the time and probably go out to dinner to celebrate the two birthdays sometime during the week.
The price of gas makes all that driving less of a wonderful experience but it will be nice to see the greenery of the West Coast again after the dry hills of Pendleton.
So if you don’t hear from me for a couple of weeks you’ll know why: I’m having fun with all the family I have left for the first time in a long time.
What with Trump awaiting trial, and Biden and his son Hunter under investigation, and the Republican Candidates debating each other to be the 2024 Presidential Nominee, there’s enough in the news to keep us busy informing ourselves for at least a month to come.
